Your body uses up all the blood sugar, you feel weak, start sweating profusely, go into a coma and your organs stop functioning, followed by death.

Depends on the dose. A low dose won’t do anything at all. Taking a low dose consistently over a long period of time (some body builders do this) can cause diabetes. One large dose can cause seizures (some mental hospitals did this in the old days). Google search “insulin shock therapy” and also “body building and insulin”. It’s really a very complex subject.

Usually — NONE! The body has MANY mechanisms for preventing an ‘Insulin OD”. the primary defense is the liver, which stores excess sugar for cases such as this.

In SOME case, the patient will experience temporary hypoglycemia — low blood sugar. this is easily “cured” by simply EATING something.

In massive overdoses, and without medical treatment, the patient will lapse into a coma, and eventually die.

Now, if YOU are planning on injecting non-diabetics with insulin, be aware that it CAN be fatal, and since this is a college project, not a licensed Clinical Trial, you would be help responsible for manslaughter if one of your test subjects died or were injured while taking part in your experiment.

Are you talking about giving a non-diabetic insulin?

Very simply – it can lower the blood sugar to dangerous levels that can result in seizures, coma, or death.
